Andy
Marquez
Andy's first image of Roxborough was his 1989 photo “Winter
On The Rox”, which is now one of his sold-out editions.
This photo was later produced as an off-set lithograph and has been
available at Roxborough State Park for sale for ten years. Since then
Andy has produced many fine images of Roxborough including:
“Garden of Symphony” “A Special Kind of Place”
“A Spirit Awakens,” “Journey Through The Mist”.
He plans to have new images for his upcoming shows.
In
1992, he and his wife Teresa, opened their first gallery in historic
Downtown Littleton, Colorado. Originally Andy’s photos featured
the wildlife of the Rocky Mountain region. He quickly became recognized
for his bison images, especially “Homecoming”
and “Old Man Winter,” two of his now 30
sold-out editions.
Shortly after the gallery opened, Andy had a desire to photograph the
great world beyond our country’s borders. He has traveled much
of this planet creating breathtaking images that cover thousands of
walls worldwide.
Greece became his first overseas shoot in 1994. There he became fascinated
with the creative use of light, shadows, shapes and colors in his photographs.
His artistic arrangements of all these elements produce truly remarkable
images. Trips to 19 countries on 5 continents would follow in years
to come. Other ventures included the Masai Mara in Africa; Machu Picchu
in Peru; the great polar bears of Hudson Bay, Canada; Kangaroo Island
in Australia, and most recently, Angor Wat in Cambodia.
Andy published his first book, "Last Signs of the Frontier"
(Colorado roadside nostalgia,) in October, 2003. It was met with overwhelming
success. The release of his follow-up "Early Signs of Enchantment"
(New Mexico roadside nostalgia,) is sure to solidify him as
not only an artist who can create beautiful pictures, but as one who
can take you on a visual journey through pages of intriguing images.
Andy’s first children’s book, "The
Blue Bubble Lady", is now available in bookstores.
In September of 2004, Andy had an unfortunate accident. He was hit by
a motorcycle while out for a walk near his house at night. His injuries
were severe; however he is making progress in his recovery.
Andy
Marquez lives with his wife Teresa and their
