Kani began
her painting career nearly 30 years ago. She began by studying oils
and then became fascinated with the soft, delicate look of watercolors.
She experimented in that medium before painting in acrylics. After a
few years, Kani returned to her first love – oils. She has since
taken many workshops and enjoyed a week-long painting class at Ghost
Ranch in New Mexico where Georgia O’Keefe painted and lived. Kani
loves to paint outdoors and has created portraits, abstracts, ocean,
mountain and southwestern scenes as well as a new line of modernistic,
contemporary female figures. She says, "I love the bright splashy
colors of the southwest and the tranquility of a landscape. I want to
create images of the vibrant world around us – people, places
and things."
Kani belonged to the Heritage Art Guild, the Lakeside Art Guild and
is currently a member of the Ken Caryl Art Guild. She participated in
the first annual Littleton Art Walk sponsored by the Willow - An Artisan's
Market.
Kani has also published a novel and poetry book. Her travel writing
articles have been published in magazines and newspapers across the
U. S. Her latest article appeared in County Discoveries and
she has one coming out soon in Balloon Life.
