Mr.
Stoner moved to Colorado from Florida in 1973, after completing four
years in the United States Air Force. He attended the University of
Denver, majoring in Civil Engineering. Mr. Stoner is currently owner
of a vintage home renovation company.
In
2000, Mr. Stoner, was introduced to the process of fine art creation,
by a close friend and long time artist Patric Galvin. Inspired, he
returned to the University of Denver in 2001, completed a Bachelors
Degree in Anthropology and began studying Fine Art at Denver University’s
Schwader Art Center. At the University he studied Abstract and Realistic
painting techniques, and experimented with various mediums including:
oil, acrylics, egg tempera, and encaustics. He also studied color
theory, ceramics, and was introduced to beginning figure drawing.
Since
graduation, his focus has been primarily on developing and expanding
his drawing skills and techniques. He recently began exploring the
use of color dry pastels to add warmth and drama to his drawings.
"I find that the blend ability of soft dry pastels allows me
to give my drawings a painting like feel and look, while using a completely
dry medium".
Mr.
Stoner continues to expand his body of painting works using his impressionistic
style to create landscapes, seascapes and a variety of real life studies.
Mr.
Stoner works from fellow artist, friend, and mentor Patric Galvin's
studio, in Evergreen, Colorado.
